St. Karol Józef Wojtyła, (AD 1920-2005) St. Karol Józef Wojtyła, known as John Paul II since his election to the papacy, was a Polish philosopher and bishop who participated in the Second Vatican Council. His philosophical work, including his magnum opus, The Acting Person, integrated contemporary phenomenology and Thomistic metaphysics in order to understand the high calling of being human. Our sophomores and juniors study Love and Responsibility in the Philosophy of the Human Person and in Ethics.
