Every year, Borromeo seminarians are given the opportunity to experience the fullness of the Church through the Global Awareness Program. During the second semester, students can apply to participate in a week long mission trip to Honduras or El Salvador.
During the course of this week long trip, students experience the culture, language, religious practice and faith of some of the poorest of the poor. The mission trip attempts to immerse the students in an experience of working shoulder to shoulder with people of another culture in an effort to build relationships.
The work experience involves building and painting projects, medical brigades, working with orphan and AIDS patients as well as experiencing the life and culture of people of Latin America.
In conjunction with the Mission trip, a student can receive academic credit by enrolling the course entitled Special Topics: Theological Reflections on a Third World Experience.
